The Power of EFT Tapping
When I first discovered Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), I was fascinated by its simplicity and its profound results. On the surface it looks almost too easy, but what’s happening beneath the surface is deeply transformative.
EFT works with the body’s natural energy system, combining ancient acupressure points with modern day talk psychology. By tapping on specific points on the body, we send calming signals to the brain, particularly the amygdala, which governs our stress response (flight, fight, freeze). In doing so, we help the body release emotional charge and restore balance to the nervous system.
It’s both science and soul.
Research supports this beautifully. Studies have shown that EFT can reduce cortisol levels by up to 43%, decrease symptoms of anxiety, depression, and PTSD, and improve overall wellbeing. The evidence base is growing and clinical settings now recognise EFT as a powerful somatic and psychological tool for emotional regulation.
But beyond the research, it’s the felt experience that I find most remarkable. In my practice as an advanced level EFT practitioner, I’ve witnessed countless clients soften from tension to tears, from fear to safety, from pain to peace, I’ve witnessed deep transformation and every time it reminds me why I love this therapy and the gift it gives to the world.
EFT reminds us that healing isn’t about fixing what’s broken; it’s about meeting what’s wounded with compassion so that we can release what no longer serves us and find emotional freedom. It’s about allowing energy to move again activating the body’s natural ability to release, restore and heal.
When I combine EFT with art, meditation, and breath, it becomes a full bodied pathway back to presence, a way of gently recalibrating the nervous system and returning home to peace.
And that is everything.
